EMDR Counseling for Individuals
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a gentle, evidence-based therapy designed to help individuals heal from traumatic experiences, distressing memories, anxiety, grief, and other emotional challenges that continue to affect daily life. Rather than requiring you to repeatedly relive painful experiences, EMDR helps the brain naturally process memories that may have become “stuck,” allowing them to lose their emotional intensity while preserving the lessons they hold. Many people find that EMDR helps them feel calmer, more resilient, and better able to move forward with greater confidence and peace.
At Caritas Center for Healing, our founder, Karen Olson is level 2-certified in EMDR and will provide a safe, supportive environment where healing unfolds at your own pace. Whether you are recovering from childhood experiences, relationship trauma, loss, panic attacks, or other life events that continue to impact your well-being, she will guide you through a personalized treatment process with care and sensitivity. Every session is centered on helping you feel grounded, empowered, and supported throughout your healing journey.
HOW DOES IT HELP?
How EMDR Can Help You
EMDR can be beneficial for a wide range of concerns, including post-traumatic stress, anxiety, depression, phobias, chronic stress, low self-esteem, and difficult life transitions. By helping the brain reprocess distressing experiences in a healthy way, EMDR often reduces emotional distress while strengthening your ability to respond to life’s challenges with greater balance and clarity.
Healing is possible, and you don’t have to carry the weight of the past alone. Our experienced practitioners are here to help you move beyond survival and toward a life of greater freedom, resilience, and emotional well-being.
YOUR FIRST VISIT
What to expect
Your first visit with Karen Olson is an opportunity to get to know one another in a comfortable, supportive, and confidential setting. During this initial session, Karen will take time to learn about your personal history, current concerns, and the goals you hope to achieve through counseling. She will explain how EMDR therapy works, answer any questions you may have, and determine whether EMDR is the right approach for your unique needs. While some clients begin EMDR preparation during the first session, the initial appointment is primarily focused on building trust, establishing a sense of safety, and creating a personalized treatment plan that honors your pace and comfort. Karen’s compassionate, client-centered approach ensures that you feel heard, respected, and supported from the very beginning of your healing journey.
